A place on the Internet for me to share the artistic contributions of my father, Richard Jessup "Dick" Roberts.
Dick died from a stroke on January 13, 2010 at the age of 79. He was born, grew up and lived for most of his life in Stamford, CT. His affiliation with the Stamford Museum and Nature Center began in the 1940s when he was a teenaged volunteer at the Museum's original location in a bank building on Main Street in down-town Stamford and at its next location in Dorothy Heroy Park on Courtland Avenue. After graduating from Yale University he accepted an offer to work at the Museum and Nature Center, where he served for many years. As the Curator of Exhibits and head of its innovative farm and zoo, he was actively involved in its development and expansion into an excellent regional resource at its current location in North Stamford. In retirement he devoted his time to painting, sculpture and gardening and, as a volunteer with the Stamford Historical Society, the restoration of Fort Stamford and the documentation of historic burial grounds. In 2009 he was awarded the Society's Distinguished Service Award.
