Two Men

The Two Men
1960
Oil on Canvas
24" x 30"
Considered by most of the family to be Dick's masterpiece. It's pretty well-known that this is a double self-portrait. The then current Dick having a heart-to-heart with a much older version of himself. I don't think either of them like how things turned out. The younger man is obviously Dick. The older man has Dick's hairline and is wearing one of the leather bomber jackets Dick was fond of and wore regularly in those days. The older man is also holding Dick's favorite diner coffee mug, from which Dick drank tea.
The color work is gorgeous and certainly influenced by Delos Palmer.
